If your commercial experience has been gained within Manufacturing, FMCG or similar industries with strong, hands on experience of costing and manufacturing processes, this is an excellent opportunity to join a large pharmaceutical manufacturer, a division of a publicly listed company reporting through to the parent organisation in Hong Kong.  Due to rapid recent growth and plans to harness this into the future, an opportunity now exists for a skilled Financial Controller to manage the finances and provide a significant level of commercial support to this successful business. 
The company will grow dramatically during the next few years and there is great opportunity to potentially move up to the next step in this organisation.  As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Financial Controller will report to the CFO / CEO and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The Financial Controller as 2IC to the CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, manufacturing costing, legal, fixed asset management, and customer and supplier analysis and contract negotiations.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for:   
  • Providing leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives
  • Ensure credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts
  • Take hands-on lead position of developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive manufacturing cost system
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization
  • Evaluates and advises on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions
  • Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of on-going business and operational activities
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the CFO / CEO and Hong Kong
  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities
  • Ensure that effective internal controls and processes are in place and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable statutory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
We are interested in hearing from candidates with the following skills and experience:
  • 5+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles
  • Hands on experience of analysis of cost of manufacturing in a complex manufacturing environment, preferably pharmaceuticals, food, FMCG, chemicals or similar
  • Formal qualification in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA and/or CPA highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organisation and with staff at multiple sites including overseas
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
  • Computer proficiency is essential (Windows environment) and strong working knowledge of ERP systems and Excel is preferred and expertise in business software applications (such as Navision)
