The role

The Assistant Financial Controller is an integral role that will support and guide our Finance, Admin, Warehouse and Logistics teams during monthly, quarterly and financial year-end cycles.  You will be responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping set up control systems.

Your responsibilities

• Work closely with the Head of Finance & Admin to develop and maintain excellence in operational accountancy (Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Tax, GST Returns, BAS, FBT, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, preparation of P&L and Cash Flow)
• Lead a Finance team to timely, accurately and holistically compile all financial data
• Manage foreign exchange dealings
• Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
• Respond timely and accurately to internal / external audit requests
• Assist/support/fill-in for team members during peak-volume periods
• Compile supporting data and analytics to construct forecasts and budgets
• Provide guidance and support on matters of pricing and activity-based costing
• Oversee and manage warehouse, logistics and supply chain
• Oversee building and property services and the ICT operations, including outsourced providers, infrastructure and assets.

About You

We seek someone who meets all of the following criteria:

• Tertiary qualified in accounting, finance, economics or commerce. Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus
• Five (5) years private experience in a general ledger environment
• Three (3) years supervisory experience with 5 or more direct reports
• Three (3) years financial statement preparation and reporting responsibility
• Two (2) years forecasting / budgeting experience
• Exceptional attention to detail, with strong time management skills
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong commitment to continuous improvement
• Proficient knowledge of MS Office (especially excel – e.g. pivot tables, macro, etc) and accounting software (e.g. Xero)
