Principal internal Auditor

An industry based not-for-profit group is currently seeking an experienced Principal Internal Auditor to be part of a developing and operating Queensland Scheme. This role will see you being based in the Brisbane City office, with extensive travel across the Queensland region for site audits. While this a senior level role in terms of involvement in the audit strategy and regular engagement with senior to executive level stakeholders across various sites, this is also a hands-on audit role. The role would suit an individual who is comfortable with the nature of this work with flexibility to travel on an ad-hoc basis. Reporting to the Audit Manager and working collectively to carry out the function of the program, some of the key duties in this role will include:
- Undertake audits including surveillance activities and mystery shopper checks to ensure operators are compliant with the audit plan
- Conduct physical audit of facilities to ensure compliance
- Address or escalate any discrepancies in accordance with agreed process manual in the audit plan
- Carry out agreed schedule of audit interactions with program participants
- Participate in the establishment of the audit strategy
- Engage and establish relationships with senior to executive level stakeholders across multi-sites and facilities within the Queensland region
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Previous working knowledge and experience as a Senior Auditor, Audit Team Leader or Audit Manager, within internal or external audit
- Working knowledge in working with blue collar industry sectors such as mining, oil and gas, environmental/waste from a client consultancy angle or internal audit
- Previous Big 4 foundational experience is well regarded, but not essential
- Flexibility to travel and undertake field audits as required with Driver’s License
- A self-starter, with high level attention to detail, coupled with excellent communication skills to converse at a senior to executive level
