About the role
As a Financial Accountant, your work will see you responsible for month-end accounting, forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis for a single BU across key business areas. Reporting into the Finance Manager, this position will have an ongoing focus on improving operational efficiency of the finance function. The position will also see you utilising your leadership skills & experience in mentoring of other staff within the team.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Finalisation of complex month end journals fully supported with meaningful calculations and liaising with the relevant business unit as required to finalise month end,
- Performing review of month end results including variance analysis and providing meaningful insights on major variances,
- Completion of the forecast process for relevant business unit, including collaboration with relevant business unit stakeholders and the decision support team,
- Developing a detailed understanding of complex forecast models for key areas of spend and ensuring accuracy and flexibility is maintained and supply scenarios when required,
- Performing complex reconciliations as well as ensuring that any clearance items are addressed in a timely manner,
- Supervision and mentoring of team members; identifying and leading process improvement opportunities across the finance function,
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key Finance and non-finance stakeholders.
About you
You will be a focused and driven junior financial accountant, newly CA or CPA qualified, preferably from Big 4 in Australia, UK or Ireland. You will be immediately available for a six month contract and also have:
- Proven experience month end close with forecasting and budgeting in a large / complex corporate environment with a minimum of 4 years’ experience,
- Demonstrated ability to comfortably communicate with all levels of staff and management both verbally and in writing,
- Advanced Microsoft excel skills with strong financial modelling ability,
- Strong leadership skills & supervisory experience desirable,
- Detailed knowledge of financial control and governance procedures,
- Effective time management and ability to work autonomously in a fast paced environment in order to meet tight deadlines.
