About the role
An opportunity for an experienced Payroll Officer with end to end payroll processing experience through SAP, to join our Client Services team currently based at a Federal Government organisation
This is a 6 month fixed term contract based in Canberra
Must fit the eligibility criteria and able to undergo a security clearance
The primary purpose is to deliver a high quality payroll service to ensure client satisfaction
Duties include:
- Provide accurate and timely salary processing for employees in accordance with their relevant award or employment contract
- Understand and meet client expectations
- Determines operational objectives by studying client business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats.
- Recommends controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures.
- Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation; providing support; training users as required.
- Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Likes challenging assignments, and is excited by challenge

Skills and experience
Essential
- Must have SAP Payroll experience
- Minimum 3 years end to end Payroll experience
- Payroll legislation and awards knowledge
- Experience working within a complex environment
- Business process improvement focus (quality management, analysing information and problem solving experience)
Desirable

Previous experience working in a Payroll Outsourcing environment
- Tertiary qualified with business related discipline
- Proven experience within a similar role
- Working with a team to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Knowledge of using various payroll system (SAP, Preceda, Payroll Metrics, C21, PeopleSoft)

Eligibility
To be eligible for employment at this federal department, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Must have Australian Citizenship
- Be willing to undergo an Australian Federal Police Check
- Be willing and eligible to obtain a security clearance to the appropriate level, if applicable to the position
