The Opportunity

A well established, internationally owned manufacturing company are seeking an experienced, Financial Controller with international currency and strong budget management experience, for a 12 month maternity leave contract. Working on a part-time basis, 3 days a week, you will bring experience managing their finance operations and reports, as well as develop key working relationships with internal and external clients. Based in the south of Cairns, you will be charged with responsibility for the delivery of all accounting activities and management of their small Finance team.

Reporting to the CEO, you will provide timely support and financial analysis as required to support the business in reaching its targets and complying with all legal, statutory and company requirements. In addition you will bring your strategic and leasdership skills to manage a Finance team. This senior level role also encompasses strategic financial planning, providing forward-looking insights to drive superior management decisions, improving financial and operational results, maintaining and improving governance and internal controls.

You will also be charged with more traditional financial accounting, including accurate reporting of financial performance, forecasting and operational metrics, budget planning, overseeing commercial contract negotiations and all tax and statutory reporting requirements. The successful Financial Controller will apply critical thinking skills, financial and commercial acumen and strong leadership to support expansion and growth.

Key functions of this Senior Financial Controller role include:

• Leadership and Capability: Provide leadership, commitment and focus that reflects' and reinforces a culture of discipline, honesty and awareness.
• Reporting & Analysis: Monthly accurate and timely closure of financial results including reconciliation of trial balance for sign off by the CEO & Senior Management and statutory requirements.
• Completion of monthly or adhoc reporting which will be provided to the CEO and Interntional Management team
• Remain up to date with daily financial requirements, including but not limited to, AP, AR & office service functions
• Work with internal Tax team to allow them to control and comply with ATO rules & regulations
• Preparation of annual statutory and tax requirements as required
• Planning & Budgeting: Work with each department to prepare, collate and present financials to CEO for review and approval in accordance with Corporate guidelines
• Cost Accounting: Ensure product costing methodologies are in-line with Corporate guidelines including valuation, variances and inventory reconciliations.
• Provide support, tools and information to Senior Management, to drive cost awareness with project cost centre managers, and support and contribute to cost savings initiatives across the business

About You

The successful candidate will bring ALL of the following qualifications, skills & attributes:

• CA or CPA qualified commercial accountant with at least 5 years post qualified experience
• Financial accounting & international currency experience essential, including IFRS and statutory accounts
• Good communicator, with confidence to establish rapport and credibility with colleagues
• Mature minded, personable, enthusiastic and committed, with good interpersonal and presentation skills
• Strong analytical skillsand excellent IT skills; must be highly proficient with Excel. Previous experience with Inhouse accounting software and or job costing software advantageous.

With the role of Financial Controller being one of senior influence, you must have recently held a Senior Financial Reporting role, preferably within the construction or manufacturing industry. You are drawn to this role as it provides a challenge and diverse range of functions. You are also happy to work on a part-time basis, for the duration of the 12 month maternity leave contract, due to commence Septembr 2018. Full handover provided and generous base salary!
