Tax Accountant

• Seeking a Tax accountant to join the Finance Divison
• Full time 12 month temporary role to cover parental leave 
• Based in Sydney CBD 

We are currently seeking a Tax Accountant to join our high performing Finance Division for a period of 12 months. The role will report to the Manager - Taxation and will be based in our Sydney CBD Office.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Preparation and lodgement of all annual income tax returns and supporting documentation for Australian and New Zealand entities, ensuring returns are accurate and compliant and ensuring that returns are lodged and tax payments are made by the due dates. The returns include: 

• Consolidated income tax return of a large Australian multinational entity
• International Dealings schedules and Country by Country reporting
• Returns for other related entities in Australia and New Zealand

• Preparation and lodgement of monthly tax returns and indirect tax returns for Australia and New Zealand including:

• Monthly BAS returns
• Monthly stamp duty returns
• Monthly Emergency Services and Fire Service Returns for Australia and NZ
• Monthly Income tax payment 

• Internal and external tax accounting including

• Tax calculations for annual consolidated financial reports and the individual Australian and New Zealand entity financial reports
• Quarterly tax reporting for Australian and International management accounts
• Reconciliation of tax accounts in the general ledger

To be successful in the role you will have:

• CA or CPA Qualification
• Previous experience in an accountant role in an insurer
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with the business, head office and management
• Ability to understand and apply the company's tax policy as well as with the tax issues affecting the industry
• Ability to work to and meet deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail
• A strong knowledge of accounting and the ability to resolve complex issues
• Intermediate to Advanced level of excel skills
