With a recently awarded contracting kicking into gear, our client is now needing to recruit a Commercial Manager to manage the finance and administration functions of the site by providing professional advice, support and mentorship to the project regarding financial accountability and controls to ensure financial performance targets are achieved for the Project.
This role will see you working as part of a team who can share improvement ideas for the overall benefit of the mine and actively participate in achieving site targets whilst maintaining a safe operation.
Reporting to the Project General Manager, duties will include:
- Mentor, coach and assist the PM in managing the Head Contract to ensure full understanding of all aspects of the contract.
- Perform as a key liaison for internal and external audits to ensure Quality Assurance (QA) on site.
- Undertake monthly cost review meetings with all project functional managers.
- Oversee on-site procurement and utilisation of group strategic sourcing agreements.
- Manage subcontractor relationships including claims.
- Prepare accurate budgets and forecasts, undertake monthly variance analysis back to original tender and annual budgets to understand variances.
- Report the financial position of the project in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with Accounting Standards and group accounting policies.
- Manage the financial package functions in an effective manner as a cost management tool by ensuring ledger costs correct and efficiently reported.
- Manage cash flow for the project including timely invoicing and cash collection.
- Review payroll and all internal charges to ensure project cost control.
- Liaise with the PM to develop, manage and analyse project KPI’s to achieve exceptional project outcomes
- Work with key stakeholders to ensure the most cost effective mobilisation of the project
- Involvement in external and internal audits.
- Review commercial terms of proposed subcontracts to assess compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 5+ years of mining or heavy industry environment
- Mine industry experience desirable
- Previous experience with a greenfields project highly desirable
- Knowledge Australian and international accounting reporting standards
- Knowledge of Australian taxation legislation; GST, FBT, Income and payroll tax
