The Position
The Senior Accountant role is one of critical support within the organisation. The role involves preparing jobs from start to finish including invoicing & maintaining & building client relationships. The Senior Accountant is directed by and reports directly to the Operations Manager and reports to & provides support to the CEO. The role would also involve delegation of accounting/taxation tasks to a junior accountant (where applicable) and/or outsourced accountant and Admin Team (where applicable).
It is also critical for the Senior Accountant to live into the core values of the business and lead by example in this area. The Senior Accountant must be open to both personal & professional growth and plays an important role in leading others to do the same.
Responsibilities
- Complete client file in your client portfolio accurately & efficiently
- Achieve annual billing & annual budgeted recoverability number
- Find opportunities for extra services from products provided to clients within your portfolio
- Participate and lead all team training with an open mind & with care (help develop and implement)
- Plan & Schedule work to junior and/or outsource accountants
- Attend all company required meetings to live into the firm Culture
Key Performance Indicators
- Turn client work around within 10 business days (15 if large job)
- No more than 2 review points per job
- Achieve 11 out of 12 months at no less than 5% below your budgeted recoverability rate
- Find at least 8 opportunities per month
- Bring 1 specific outcome you want out of the training (& get it) for every training session
- Ensure the junior &/or outsource accountant has enough work to achieve their budget every week
- Attend & participate in meetings 100%
Critical Drivers
- Have no more than 5 files open at on
- Develop the internal checklist system and use 100% of the time before submitting the file to outsource or junior
- Achieve daily recoverable budget at least 4 of 5 days per week (avg 80%) over the year
- Invest 15 – 30 mins time upon completion of a client file to find opportunities we can discuss and offer the client. Present this in a written format to Operations Manager/CEO
- Prepare for every training session
- 3 times a week ensure there is 3 days’ work in advance for the junior and/or outsource accountant
- Have all prep & pre-work done 24 hours before meeting
About You
- Education Level – CPA or CA qualified
- Experience – 5 years plus
Personal characteristics – Must embrace & live in to the core values of the business
- Be willing to grow both personally & professionally
- Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal & computer skills
