BDO (Nth Qld) is seeking a self-motivated Accountant to develop our Advisory service line, meeting the future needs of our clients.
For the right candidate, this position provides strong pathways for career development. You will leverage off an established accounting practice to grow a developing advisory service line. In this role, you will provide high quality advice and lead digital transformation.

Key responsibilities
• Enhancing client processes and reporting by applying new technology
• Enabling change, by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders
• Apply and continue to enhance your technical knowledge and experience in a professional and collaborative manner
• Generate new ideas and recommendations supportive of BDO (Nth Qld)’s growth in our advisory service line
• Provide specialist technical knowledge and support including systems and applications training to ensure the successful outcome of IT related changes and adaptions.
What you will need to succeed in this role:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Tertiary qualifications including a Bachelor of Business/Commerce (Accounting) and or a Bachelor of Information Technology or similar
• CA or CPA qualified
• Strategic business acumen and understanding of client organisational strategy, business processes and related systems
• Strong conceptual and analytical skills - demonstrating outside-the-box problem solving skills
• Strong IT skills as well as willing and able to learn new technologies quickly
• Experience in linking ‘Apps’ to accounting software
o Point of sale, inventory, payroll, bank feeds, receipt bank, payroll, forecasting etc.
• Experience with Spotlight, Power BI and Castaway (or similar)
• MYOB, Xero and/or Quickbooks certified (or similar)
• Experience in the preparation of monthly financial reports
• Experience in the preparation of financial forecasts
• Ability to present financial information to Partners/Clients
• Ability to develop business improvement strategies
