About the Company:
This well-regarded accounting firm is based on the City Fringe, which has free parking and is conveniently located to public transport, various cafes and restaurants. The practice currently consists of a young and vibrant team and provides services across bookkeeping, planning, taxation, SMSF, business and corporate advice. Due to an increase in the work, the organisation is currently seeking a full-time junior accountant to join their collaborative and supportive team.

About the Role:
This is a uniquely exciting opportunity because you will gain business services and commercial experience. This opportunity is for an eager accountant looking to develop their career. You will work 3 days a week in the organisations head office and 2 days a week in their satellite office. You will gain experience in high-level compliance work and eventually develop advisory skills. You will work with sophisticated clients from a diverse range of industries, including hospitality, agribusiness, mining, equity trading, R&D, property etc.
Duties:
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly income tax obligations, including, Business Activity Statement’s (BAS), Instalment Activity Statement’s (IAS), Year End Compliance
- Weekly reconciliation of receipts and banking
- Assist with processing and reconciling data in accounting software
- Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Assist with payroll administration
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
- Reconcile and maintaining balance sheet accounts
- Reconcile and maintain profit and loss accounts
- Check figures and reporting for accuracy
- Report any irregularities in data
- Update financial data in databases to ensure that information is accurate and available when needed
- Assist with the preparation of month end and year end close
- General office and filing duties
- Assist with other accounting tasks and projects as assigned
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail
Skills & Experience:
- Completed or soon to completed Bachelor’s degree (Accounting or Commerce)
- Minimum of 18 months experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role
- Proficiency in relevant accounting software, including MYOB & Xero
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
