We are currently embarking on an extensive programme of exploration across our tenements and an opportunity has arisen for an Accountant with experience within the resources industry to join our team.

About the role

Based in the Brisbane CBD, this position offers a unique opportunity to establish and oversee robust financial procedures and practices, supporting our rapid expansion.  The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and understanding of accounting within the mining/exploration industry, with the ability to provide sound financial advice.

Responsibilities will include:

• Develop and drive continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, operational analysis and forecasts;
• Ensure compliance with all financial, tax and legal requirements, policies and provisions;
• Expense management and reporting for exploration across all tenements;
• Preparation of budgets & quarterly forecasts;
• Oversight of internal and external audit requirements;
• Processing of payroll;
• Vendor liaison, price negotiation and supplier relationships;
• Raise invoices and purchase orders;
• Ad hoc financial reporting and analysis as required.

Skills and experience

To be considered for this role, you will ideally posses the following skills and experience:

• 5+ years' experience in a similar position within the resources industry;
• A Bachelor of Commerce/Business majoring in Accounting and Finance;
• CA/CPA is desirable;
• Must have a sound knowledge of AASB Standard 6;
• Sound computer skills with MS Office Suite and financial management systems/databases;
• High level attention to detail with strong business and financial analysis skills i.e. cost management, the ability to investigate project variances and report on this data;
• Experience in building and managing administration and accounting systems through rapid growth.
