If you answered yes to the above questions, this is an opportunity not to be missed.  Become part of the Senior Management Team of one of the largest employers in the Pacific Islands, and use your mix of strategic and operational skills to take this business to the next level.  Reporting directly to the Country Manager for PNG, the GM will be responsible for the day to day operation of the business as well as the future strategic direction in conjunction with the Board.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Based in Port Moresby, you will also be responsible for 5 other branches throughout the country.  Duties will include but it be limited to:

  • Achieving set financial targets, and based on the country trends develop the product offerings, ensuring the company remains competitive
  • Increase management's effectiveness by recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring staff.  Communicating values, strategies, and objectives and assigning accountabilities, appraising job results, developing incentives, as well as providing educational opportunities to staff
  • Develop and implement the sales and marketing strategies
  • Create and implement new policies and procedures to improve business efficiency
  • Prepare monthly board reports

ABOUT YOU:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting or Finance and significant “C” level experience in FMCG or Retail
  • A good understanding of P & L, cash flow and capital planning and significant experience dealing with “C” level executives, boards, clients and community leaders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with exceptional presentation and negotiation skills and effective problem solving abilities
  • Results driven inspirational and persuasive leader
  • Broad understanding of the key functions of business including HR, project management, sales, procurement and IT.
