Since 1879, VANA Ltd. (The Victorian Association for Newsagents) has been managing the interests of its members. That is, ensuring the growth and financial viability of the newsagency channel through offering industry representation, advocacy, training programs, human resource assistance, political lobbying and recently a commercial enterprise in the ever growing parcel business.
As General Manager of VANA you will lead a committed, high performing team in delivering the vision and strategic plans that you and the Board have developed. This leadership position will see you at the forefront of the organisation, actively involved in:
· Managing external relationships including local and State government, industry sponsors and business partners;
· Design, develop and implement the holistic strategy to deliver member focused initiatives, increasing profitability and raising the profile of Members, the Industry and VANA.
· Implement corporate governance and industry best practice
· Work with strategic partners to initiate and develop commercial plans for the benefit of members and VANA
Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will have to demonstrate commercial acumen and experience in the SME, and commercial sectors. A proven track record in strategic thinking, accounting standards, delivering results and managing a diverse team will position you well for success in this role.
You will need to have a good understanding of the issues facing SME's in the current retail climate, you may also possess experience in other member environments. Previous demonstrable experience in managing change, understanding membership needs together with a commercial drive to expand and develop will be highly regarded. Newsagency Industry experience will also be highly regarded but not essential.
