The Women in Super Mother’s Day Classic is a national participation event held on Mother’s Day, attracting over 100,000 attendees each year. Established in 1998 and organised by the MDC Foundation (MDCF), its purpose is to raise funds for breast cancer research, to increase awareness of breast cancer within the community and to support and remember those affected by breast cancer.  All proceeds from the event are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and to date over $35m has been raised for breast cancer research.

The MDC Foundation Ltd as trustee for Mother’s Day Classic Foundation is a company limited by guarantee, and a public company with charitable status (MDC Foundation Limited ACN 604 328 994). MDC is governed by a Board elected by Women in Super.

The newly created role of Chief Operating Officer will report directly to the CEO of the MDCF.  This role will be responsible for the design, review and integration (along with management) of all operational areas to drive continuous improvement that results in an environment that enables the efficient and effective functioning of the MDCF in achieving its Strategic Plan and delivering the MDC event each year. Part of this role is also the engagement of a wide range of sponsors, suppliers, stakeholders and volunteers as part of the ongoing day to day operations of the MDCF.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in a business or related discipline, have significant demonstrable experience in a key leadership role across similar operational capability and a strong understanding of event management or other operational or logistics environments.

You will have a business/finance and commercial background with well-developed contract management skills along with a good understanding of risk management within the NFP sector.  This unique role will oversee the daily operations of the MDCF business function, including ongoing business and systems needs including human resources and IT.

Salary for this role is negotiation depending on the candidates prior expertise, however will be within a range for a NFP in a leadership position.

  • 4 additional ‘rostered’ days off (1 per quarter)
  • Additional 3.5 days annual leave between Christmas and New Year (after 12 mths service)
