This is a rare and truly exciting opportunity to build an organisation from the ground up and play a key role in empowering the community to drive real change across southern inland Queensland.
As Australia's newest Regional NRM organisation, Southern Queensland NRM is a not-for-profit organisation which is being developed to deliver quality natural resources management services and support for the communities within the region.
Consistent with the organisation's charter, the opportunity now exists for an experienced and talented leader to develop and manage the organisation to deliver significant and sustained on-ground outcomes across the catchment, and to build a brand renowned for doing so.
Reporting to a newly created Board of (Non-Executive) Directors, in this newly created role you will work with the Board to define strategy and then design and build the organisation, culture, governance framework and capability required to deliver to the organisation's objectives. Central to this will be the development of a high-performance, customer-centric culture of accountability and continuous improvement that ensures return on investment.
You will be a natural leader and relationship manager whose sharp intellect is governed by your emotional intelligence and pragmatic, ‘people first’ approach. While performance focused, you will be governance-oriented and committed to excellence and long-term sustainability
Management experience within a multi-disciplinary, multi-site environment, high level negotiation, facilitation and consultation skills, a demonstrated understanding of community empowerment, and relevant tertiary qualifications are essential. An understanding of NRM issues, processes and the role of community and business in effective NRM, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Indigenous, community and government stakeholders, and a demonstrated understanding of the Southern Queensland regional operating environment will be a distinct advantage.
This is a full-time contract role, for up to five years, based at a negotiable location within the region, e.g. Toowoomba, Goondiwindi, Roma, Charleville.
Situated west of the Great Dividing Range, southern inland Queensland features a diverse landscape ranging from some of Australia's most fertile agricultural land in the east to picturesque rangelands in the west. The area affords its residents a relaxed, family-friendly lifestyle, affordable housing, world-class health, education, recreation and cultural facilities and a tangible sense of community.
