The Life Strategic Transactions team forms part of Challenger Life business. The team is responsible for managing and implementing the Life business strategic and complex transactions, including transaction design, document negotiation and transaction approvals as well as ensuring the Life business has best execution models and structures in place for all of its key business lines.
The team works closely with all of the Life business portfolio managers and support groups in order to ensure transactions are implemented in a timely, efficient and risk aware manner and manages in accordance with all relevant terms and obligations.
The team is also responsible for the service level agreements between Challenger group services and its regulated entities, Challenger Life Company Limited and Challenger Retirement Services Limited and various other outsourcing arrangements. In addition, the team manages several key Group strategic initiatives, including the Challenger agility programme, derivatives at Challenger and various other operational related projects.
The COO and Head of Strategic Transactions, Life is a member of several key committees and forums including the Asset Liability Committee, the COO Forum and the Challenger Executive Management Team as well as a board member for various Challenger subsidiary entities.
The role requires a high level of common sense and intellectual horsepower as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders across the firm. The individual should be self-motivated, “hands-on” and show attention to detail.
To be effective in this role the person will need strong financial markets knowledge as well as knowledge of investment products and a strong commercial awareness which spans over a minimum of 10 years industry experience.
You will also need strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems and concepts based on available information and be able to present these ideas effectively to individuals, groups, the leadership team and the Board.
