The Opportunity

Now entering its 10th year of operation, this non-profit organisation is providing an Australian First innovative program for children and young adults managing disability.

The purpose of the organisation is to support people with disabilities (our participants), particularly children and young adults through physical movement and fitness programs throughout Victoria.

Key Responsibilities

The position of CEO will report to the Chair of the Board and be accountable to the Board. The CEO is responsible for developing and achieving the strategic plan in conjunction with the Board in order to achieve long-term self-sustainability through effective organisational and team leadership, stakeholder management, and financial and operational performance.

Role Focus

This position will be a permanent part time and flexible role requiring a multifaceted and innovative CEO who can quickly identify the strategy and leadership required to take this non profit organisation to the next level involving:

  • Setting the culture and tone of the organisation
  • Strategic planning in conjunction with the Board including communications, marketing and branding
  • Stakeholder relationships - forming strategic alliances relative to the brand and delivery of artistic performances Leadership
  • People leadership and direction
  • Stewardship of organisation including governance / compliance / board reporting/ funding and fundraising including identification of opportunities / grant writing for operational purposes and special purpose funding needs identified for growth / expansion / capital expenses to meet strategic aspirations
  • Continuous improvement and best practice

Expertise Required

You will be a proven leader in professional services and or non for profit sector where you have had success in transforming an organisation to the next level of operational excellence.

To be successful in this appointment you will bring a high degree of passion and empathy to the purpose of the organisation and the positive transformation for the community and participants in the programs. Having well established networks in arts, government agencies, social services and private business alike you will be able to leverage these relationships strategically to support funding opportunities and brand awareness.

Demonstrated skills and qualifications include:

  • Formal professional degree or relevant qualification in business
  • Strong capacity in strategic thinking and strategic planning
  • Capacity to lead in complex environments in a similar level executive role
  • Highly developed public speaking and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and securing funding opportunities through strategic partnerships and alliances
  • Experience with grant writing and management
  • Extensive people leadership and mentoring experience
