A rewarding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Airfield Maintenance Manager to lead our Airfield Maintenance Team and Operations of Maintenance activities across the Tullamarine airfield. An experienced Civil Engineer or Maintenance Manager by trade, this pivotal hands on operations leadership opportunity is charged with ensuring that maintenance requirements are planned for and carried our across aerodrome pavements, grasslands and associated infrastructure in a manner that meets CASA requirements and ensures a safe, compliant and cost effective operation at all times.
Reporting to the Airfield Manager, the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Manage and maintain the Airfield pavement, runway and taxi ways, grassland and markers/markings and other infrastructure assets to appropriate safe, secure and serviceable standards
- Manage and successfully lead a team of Airfield Maintenance Team members who work across a 24 / 7 shift operation
- Maintain effective communications with internal and external stakeholders by ensuring contact and communication with other Airport users that ensures awareness of maintenance requirements and plans for minimal to no disruption to airport and customer operations
- Actively contribute to Airport Safety by leading a safe operation, achieving OH&S best practice in the airfield, and working toward a zero incident target
- Manage the Airfield Maintenance OPEX and Minor CAPEX budgets contributing to developing strategies for the upgrade and maintenance of existing civil airside infrastructure assets, in conjunction with other internal departments, for pavements, roads, drainage, grasslands, rubber removal and line removal
- Ensure that the airfield maintenance program is carried out in a manner that reduces environmental impact and is compliant to Melbourne Airports Wildlife Hazard Management Plan
- Review maintenace performance and take a continuous improvement view for the future of Maintenace operations
- A Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification is preferred
- Maintenance experience in leading others toward planned and unplanned maintenance activities in the Aviation sector, or a similar industry, will be pivotal to your success - exposure to fixed infrastructure maintenance operations is essential
- Exposure to and experience in asset management technology systems for maintenance planning, such as Maximo or other software
- The ability to lead others to results - strong leadership and communication skills
- Previous exposure to, or input into budgeting processes
- An appreciation for working to requirements in a highly regulated environment
- A self-starter, who has a keen willingness to learn and to lead
