About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will drive the day to day management and leadership of the male facilities at the Clarence Correctional Centre which is a brand new 1,700 bed facility housing both male and female inmates.  Alongside the Senior Management team, you will work cohesively as we prepare to commence operations mid-2020.  You will be accountable for the implementation of procedures that will safely and humanely, house all inmates with the minimum of constraints to ensure public safety and the orderly running of the establishment.  Once operational you will ensure that the facility remains a safe and secure environment that is aligned with the contract.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • You demonstrate the highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Psychology, Management, Public Administration or extensive industry experience in an equivalent role.
  • Proven leadership experience within prisons, detention centres, or similar institutional environment involving complex human behaviour.
  • Previous experience within a male corrections environment (highly advantageous).
  • An understanding of the needs leading people from different ethnic, cultural and lifestyle backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams across the male facilities in a complex institutional environment executing the highest standards and practices supporting service delivery and the safety of employees, visitors and inmates.
  • A high level of consultation, communication and negotiation skills.
