The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented business leader from the Civil/Environmental Engineering/Science sector to lead our new Victorian Water & Environment Business Unit.

Established as part of a recent growth acceleration programfor the Victoria and APAC region, this multidisciplinary team currently comprises engineers and scientists covering coasts and ports, hydrology and drainage, aquatic and terrestrial ecology, as well as EIA and environmental sustainability practitioners, with scope to expand our service offering and grow the business.
  
You will be part of a recently refreshed management team in Victoria, with a proven track record in delivering strong business results, and highly engaged team environments, based on empowering talented people to innovate, grow and develop.
  
This team is supported by our wider APAC strategy team, connecting the Water and Environment businesses across the wider Cardno group. Through this collaborative model you will have access to APAC wide markets projects and clients, as well as the support of peers and industry leaders in growing your business and your own career.

• Develop and implement your strategies for people, clients, growth, quality, safety and performance
• Provide leadership and direction that delivers high performance and team engagement in an environment supportive of cooperation, collaboration and developing our people to achieve
• Motivate, mentor, recruit and develop a great team of people
• Deliver high quality, innovative project solutions that provide real value to our clients
• Play a real part in our APAC strategic planning and direction, and work closely with counterparts across the APAC region
• Identify and capitalise on opportunities for new business and team growth with the support of Business Stream leaders, and a Victoria management team focused on growth
• Be supported as a Cardno Ambassador, actively promoting the company through industry groups and events

To be successful 

• The skills to manage and lead great projects and people
• An understanding of the importance of people, career development review processes and training
• Demonstrated ability to foster trusted long-term business relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders for mutual benefit
• Strong and positive interpersonal, influencing, mentoring and negotiation skills
• A good understanding of applying commercial concepts to develop and deliver business goals
• Appropriate tertiary qualifications and relevant experience in the water and environment area within Victoria and/or across the APAC region
• Registration within Profession (e.g. CP Eng or CENVP) or eligibility for corporate membership
• Knowledge of Quality & Safety and the importance of risk management
• Ability to successfully manage business unit finances, including projections and cash flows
