Our client is an Australian owned and operated company who provide innovative solutions within the Sewer and Stormwater Industry with capabilities such as Drain Cleaning, Water Blasting, Condition Assessment (CCTV) and Pipe Rehabilitation.

Through continual innovation and attention to customer service the company has built a large market share in the Sydney market and is opening operations in Melbourne. The company has a small management team and a relatively small head office team. They operate in a lean manner, where individuals play multiple roles within the organisation. Privately owned with substantial private equity style investors, the business is ready for growth.

The COO is responsible for the complete operations of the day to day business and reports to the CEO & Board of Directors. Currently employing around 50 staff together with a fleet of 20 vehicles plus subcontractor workforce, the business services a network of federal, state and local government bodies such as RMS, RailCorp together with a growing alliance of large infrastructure clients.

The COO will work closely with the CEO to manage the growth, ensuring the organisation scales appropriately. Priority will be establishing and maintaining rigour across the operations through strong commitment to enhancing systems and processes. This will be done in conjunction with shaping the organisation’s culture enabling it to compete in increasingly complex markets. Within this context, the COO will ensure continuity in seamless operations across its existing projects whilst being mandated to:

  • Define, set and lead strategy for the organisation in conjunction with the CEO & Board;
  • Provide visible leadership to business culture, governance, commercial and operating models in response to market challenges;
  • Lead growth initiatives within key markets - organic and acquisitive
  • Play a central role in the development of customer experience.

Candidates will demonstrate experience at COO, General Manager or executive leadership level of a comparably complex business. Relevant degree qualifications are considered pre-requisite to the role whilst prior experience in an industrial services setting will be highly regarded.
