We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented Leader to undertake the role of National Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Director. Reporting to the Head of Business Assurance, this role has overall responsibility for ensuring Raytheon's national EHS strategy is aligned with the company business goals, as well as meeting all Work Place Health and Safety (WHS) legislative requirements across all of our operational sites across Australia.

The base location of this role can be flexible, however the role will require regular interstate travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead our national network of EHS Managers and other site-based EHS teams
  • Champion Raytheon's health and safety culture, including development and promotion of EHS programs across the organisation
  • Consult with the business to ensure needs are understood and relevant frameworks and systems meet national requirements
  • Establish and implement meaningful EHS objectives and performance indicators that align with Raytheon's strategic goals, statutory obligations, corporate requirements and AS/NZS 4801 and ISO 14001 requirements
  • Provide EHS subject matter expert input with tenders, bids, acquisitions and phase-in of new programs and sites
  • Develop effective business relationships with safety industry bodies, CASG WHS Division and counterparts in Defence as well as Raytheon EHS stakeholders in the US
  • Utilise appropriate metrics to track, monitor and report on organisational EHS performance


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational or Work Health & Safety or similar discipline, or relevant experience; a Graduate Diploma in OH&S or WHS with a first degree in another discipline will also be favourably considered
  • Minimum of 10 years' management experience, ideally in Workplace Health & Safety, along with significant experience leading and developing national teams
  • Exceptional leadership capability with strong understanding of people management practices and drivers
  • Ability to engage productively with business leaders and executive and quickly build trust within matrixed organisations
  • Proven success with development and implementation of company-wide EHS management systems that comply with WHS legislation
  • Demonstrated experience with providing practical and results-driven EHS solutions that consider short plus long term repercussions of risk assessments and their impact.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence security clearance
