EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Location:          Canberra, Melbourne

Contract:          Average 15-20hrs/week

Package:           A contract package will be negotiated commensurate with skills and experience.

Organisational context:

The Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia (CCEA) is an independent, nationally and internationally recognised body responsible for ensuring and maintaining a high level of education and competency standards in the chiropractic profession. In this role, CCEA undertakes:

  • evaluation, accreditation and monitoring of chiropractic tertiary level programs in Australasia;
  • a skills recognition process and competency assessment for chiropractors trained outside of Australia or New Zealand.

These activities are undertaken in support of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS), and Chiropractic is a health profession regulated under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 (National Law), Australia and Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA Act), New Zealand.

CCEA is restructuring its organisational support to create two separate roles, Executive Officer (EO) and Committees Manager responsible for overseeing the Accreditation and Overseas Assessment committees.

CCEA's Board of Directors includes professional, educational, community and regulatory participants, drawn from across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. There are two constituted sub-committees, the Accreditation Committee and the Chiropractic Overseas Assessment Committee (COAC). Interaction with related accreditation, professional, regulatory and educational bodies is on-going, both locally and internationally.

The Position:

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Provide executive support services to the CCEA Board of Directors, including attendance at all Board and Executive Committee meetings as required, financial management, coordination of submissions and reports, and conduct CCEA business
  • Arrange for meetings of the Board, Executive and its committees in accordance with the Constitution
  • Provide efficient management and oversight of the Committees Manager and Administrative manager
  • Be responsible for and maintain true accounts of the collection and receipt of all monies payable to the Council, authorise payments, issue receipts and bank monies in the bank account of the council in accordance with Board direction and under the supervision of the treasurer
  • Be responsible for and maintain true accounts of the preparation of all cheques and orders drawn on Council's funds in accordance with Board directions and under the supervision of the Treasurer
  • Communicate in a timely and effective manner
  • Conduct correspondence of the Board and act as the Company Secretary of CCEA
  • Provide sound strategic and policy advice, and work effectively with relevant stakeholders to represent CCEA's views in forums related to CCEA areas of interest
  • Establish and/or maintain consultative networks and stakeholder relationships within key health profession groups and associated organisations
  • Lead the development of projects, manage contractors and support personnel to ensure effective delivery
  • Provide efficient coordination, facilitation and management of the organisation's activities and operations as they relate to the executive support function
  • Institute legal proceedings on behalf of the Council in accordance with Board direction

Other Details:

With the geographical spread of the Council members, the majority of business is conducted electronically. Biannual weekend Council meetings are typically held in Sydney and most other meetings tend to be in Melbourne or Canberra.

It is preferred that the successful applicant be Melbourne or Canberra based, though other options could be considered.

It is anticipated the position will require an average of 15-20 hours per week. Additional work may be assigned on a project basis. It is intended that the position will be on a contract basis, with an indicative initial term of 2 years, subject to negotiation, 3 month probationary period and performance review and performance review at 1 year.
