CATEGORY DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

About the Role
Due to sustained business growth, we are looking for a Category Development person with either:
- Some experience preferable in FMCG (Food)
or - A Post Graduate person who has studied International Business / Marketing.
The successful candidate will be part of an intimate Sales team and be responsible for supporting the growth of the company's existing product range as well as driving new product development, thus contributing to the overall profitability of the business.
** Preferable if you have worked in FMCG (Purchasing) or studied International Business / Marketing **
Primary responsibilities:
- Build and enhance business relationships with clients and suppliers
- Work closely with internal departments and key stakeholders
- Source new and existing products from local and overseas suppliers
- Identify new product opportunities and develop product proposals for clients
Required qualifications, skills and qualities:
- A business related tertiary qualification is essential
- Excellent customer service and negotiation skills
- Thorough understanding of the sales process
- Experience working with customs compliance, transport operations and retail operations
- Possess exceptional critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills
- Experience in handling multiple projects from concept to delivery
- Ability to manage time and resources effectively to meet strict deadlines
- High-level literacy and numerical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office - (especially MS Excel)
