Packcentre is an industry-leading national company, providing the complete suite of marketing distribution solutions for leading FMCG companies. Our clients include domestic and global manufacturers specialising in food, beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and bonded products.

Our national network of warehousing, distribution and co packaging facilities boasts state of the art equipment supported by ERP technology. Our processes are compliant with all necessary quality accreditations, meaning that our brand and reputation are well respected within our existing markets.

We are a major player within the POS distribution, contract manufacturing, warehousing and packaging services industry, and have established a successful and growing transportation solutions division.

Delivering our services consistently to an established client base, we are now ready to take all facets of the business to the ‘next level’. We have an opportunity for a dynamic B2B sales person to be based at our Erskine Park facility, and have engaged Baldwin Solutions to find an exceptional person to join our team.

The role

This business development role is different. Firstly, it will involve a period when the successful applicant will learn about the capabilities and deliverables of all our business divisions. Then, working closely with those divisions, they will identify new clients and develop new markets that we can serve. Identification of co-packing opportunities, events management support, transportation solutions and POS distribution management are challenges that this role must address.

Suiting a recent graduate with at least two years’ working experience, the successful applicant will need to be self-motivated, inquisitive and able to think on their feet. A tenacious, resilient attitude is an essential attribute to ensure success in this role. Our business relationships are initially consultative, evolving into transactional. Therefore, the ability to present opportunities from a client focussed perspective is a key requirement that will need to be developed.

An aptitude for B2B sales, marketing and strategic analysis are important aspects of the position, along with exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to close deals. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in researching market trends, targeting relationships and using proven methods to develop business strategy.

Responsibilities

Researching prospective accounts in targeted markets, creating and pursuing leads and negotiating a successful agreement.

Understanding target markets, including industry, network and company contacts.

Developing appropriate strategies to attract clients.

Collaborating with operational teams to ensure that clients’ requirements are met.

Maintaining relationships with clients and identifying new prospects.

Possessing a strong understanding of our services, our competition in the industry and our differentiated positioning.

Following the latest industry developments and staying up-to-date on corporate competitors’ activities.

Developing a pipeline of leads, approaches, follow-ups and successful negotiations.

Skills

A potentially limited, yet proven, track record in business to business sales or equivalent positions, demonstrating skills and achievements transferable to this role.

Excellent organizational skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or their equivalents.

Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Technical skills required to understand and propose products or solutions by focusing on client requirements and benefits.

Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical, to staff members and customers, in a clear and concise manner.
