Corwin, a SAGE Company, has a current opening for an Education Sales Consultant supporting Brisbane, QLD.

You will enjoy working on some of the largest projects in the education industry in addition to working with a highly motivated team. As a highly specialized area of Education and Learning, this successful team has built a reputation of providing their customers with a superior level of service.

Under Corwin's central mission of helping educators make the greatest impact, this position is responsible for successfully planning, executing and reporting on sales of Corwin products and consulting services in an assigned territory. The incumbent will be responsible for developing relationships with clients in his/her territory and for prospecting new business in the territory. Clients include school administrators, principals, regional associations, and Professional Development (PD) Institutions.

The Education Sales Consultant acts as an adviser to Principals and System administrators on how to incorporate various Corwin PD Resources in their district PD plans. The Education Sales Consultant is the key driver of the proposal writing process for their customers and is charged with overseeing the execution process once business is won.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Acts as the expert for consultative selling and for the sales of author consulting services to districts.
  • Assists management with developing sales strategies.
  • Collaborates and liaises with the Corwin marketing staff to effectively promote Corwin products through various marketing activities including print, web, email promotions, and conferences.
  • Collaborates and liaises with sales managers to support and maximize sales while maintaining good customer relations and providing market feedback to editors and authors.
  • Collaborates and liaises with Corwin Learning and Editorial staff to effectively sell the development of print and online offerings, workshops, author consulting and courses.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Sales Management

  • Build territory sales plans (semiannual, monthly, weekly, daily as appropriate)
  • Conduct in person meetings to qualify leads and win business from new customers
  • Phone sales and relationship building with existing clients and new prospects
  • Conduct market research to understand PD needs of individual districts
  • Achieve revenue targets and profit goals established for the territory
  • Create proposals, provide quotes, sets up trials
  • Champion and help develop new selling strategies for author consulting, eLibraries, and other Learning products
  • Carefully track key sales opportunities throughout the sales seasons (in SFDC), both quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Manage the data collection and lead generation process to deadlines;
  • Monitor sales activity on a weekly basis and inform the manager of progress towards goals, key adoption activity, closed business, etc.
  • Attend state and national conventions; meet with clients

Consultative Selling, Training, Proposal Support

  • Act as an adviser to PD administrators on how to incorporate various Corwin PD resources in their district PD plans
  • Respond to district RFPs; develop district proposals that best support the districts PD needs; develop proposal templates
  • Have a clear understanding of education trends, funding and budget cycle

Leadership

  • Represent the sales department in, and sometimes facilitating, various editorial, sales, and marketing meetings
  • Help with planning and facilitation of sales meetings and product-knowledge meetings
  • Meet regularly with editorial and marketing personnel to collaborate on strategies
  • Participate in Publication Committee decisions, including providing feedback/approval on sales projections for new books
  • Maintain product knowledge through discussions with editors, Sales Launch meetings and self-education

Other

  • Research client inquiries regarding price discrepancies, shortages, overages or replacements and presents solutions
  • Examine purchase orders for correct data entry
  • Maintain complete records in SalesForce.com, to include notes, activities, callbacks, opportunities with quotes and samples
  • Investigate and relay ideas for new books to Editorial

Qualifications:

  • Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:
  • Sales acumen required
  • Strategic thinking required
  • 5+ years of K-12 sales experience
  • Strong knowledge of education industry
  • Ability to contribute effectively to cross-departmental meetings
  • Ability for effective cold calling required
  • Knowledge of publishing Industry
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, SalesForce.com
  • Knowledge of Corwin products
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required; Degree in Education is preferred
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license
