As a Business Development Manager with Toll you will prospect for new business, regularly visit customers, develop relationships with key decision makers, create and deliver client presentations, compile tender submissions, effectively establish new trading accounts and ultimately close the sale!

Your key focus will be to ensure that growth potential is maximised and that revenue and sales budgets are reached.

You will be responsible for

  • Prospecting new business customers in accordance with growth targets
  • Preparing a sales plan to illustrate where new business will be acquired
  • Following the sales on-boarding guidelines for all new customers
  • Maximising customer spend by selling across all of Toll’s products and services
  • Ensuring customer integrity and satisfaction of service
  • Ensure that existing customers within the territory do not exit the business
  • Report on a weekly basis with respect to call cycle, quotes or tenders submitted, new business secured, and denied opportunities.
  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with operational, customer service staff and drivers
  • Establish a competitor information profile and report back on market findings
  • Play an active and proactive role in the sales team

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Proven experience in the Transport sector - ideally within Wharf Services
  • Commercial knowledge incorporating operational, contracts/tenders, industry and business acumen
  • The ability to establish rapport and build business relationships across multiple layers within an organisation
  • High-level solution based selling skills
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Broad business and commercial experience and knowledge
  • Organisation and time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Effective presentation skills, with strong knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Budget management capabilities and reporting
  • Strong analytical ability and numerical confidence
  • A high attention to detail
