About the role 

An exciting opportunity to join our VIC Sales Team in the role of Account Manager - Fine Wine Specialist. As the Victorian Fine Wine Specialist, your role is to achieve MHA’s business objectives & agreed sales budget for your specific territory with a particular focus on the MH luxury spirits portfolio across the bar and night trade channels. The core focus in respect of this position is to continue to grow the on premise whilst understanding and embracing the strategic imperatives of MHA in your day to day business. Furthermore you are responsible for enhancing MHA’s culture and contributing to the overall success of your direct team and that of the entire business.

This role is responsible for: 

Category Leadership

  • Achieve mutually agreed monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets set by the State Manager
  • Achieve mutually agreed points of distribution of MHA brands focusing on visibility and placement in the core bar and night trade channels.
  • Maintain, develop & grow distribution points in all outlets in order to expand MHA business opportunities
  • Work closely with Victorian State Sales Team to further identify MH luxury spirit opportunities
  • Work closely with the Brand Managers and broader marketing teams to develop fine wine channel strategy

Trade Education

  • Participate in and host brand training in trade focussing on the MH luxury spirits portfolio
  • Host fine wine Master Classes to reach bartenders, consumers and key retail trade.
  • Stay engaged with the Victorian Bartender community and generate bartender advocacy for the MH luxury spirit brands

  Achieve Industry sales force leadership

  • Target sales and marketing activities to outlets to ensure maximum ROI
  • Attain and maintain the highest standards of service provided to trade customers and develop relationships at all levels within the customers’ business
  • Develop knowledge of all MHA brands and be recognised by customers as an industry consultant

  Make MHA brands available & accessible

  • Develop and implement brand specific activities within accounts
  • Ensure that key brand merchandising standards are achieved at all times utilizing developed POS and via creative enhancements
  • Ensure that MHA brands feature prominently over competitors with superior animation

  Competitor Information

  • Monitor competitor activity/dealing/pricing and promotions within territory and provide feedback to business

Brand Activation

  • Work closely with the Brand Managers and broader marketing teams to evaluate methods of improving the effectiveness and operational efficiencies of activation activities
  • Recommend new venues for promotions and ensure that incremental business support is gained upon the venues being selected
  • Ensure all promotional activity is carried out efficiently and effectively within budgeted parameters and within the respective brands’ standard guidelines

  Credit & Payment Collections

  • Monitor the financial status of each assigned customer within your specific territory and alert the State Manager and National Credit Manager of any concerns in order to minimize the incidence of bad debts
  • Ensure debts are collected within the due date and keep communication lines clear with State Manager & Credit Manager at all times

Skills & experience required: 

The successful candidate will possess 5 years of sales/Fine Wine experience, ideally within a hospitality or liquor company

Other essential criterion includes:

  • University degree in Business or similar
  • Completion of Senior Certificate
  • Good understanding of the on-premise business
  • Excellent proven sales skills
  • Exceptional communication, networking and interpersonal skills
  • Team player but can work autonomously
  • Responds quickly and effectively
  • Highly motivated and results oriented
  • Appreciation of luxury goods market requirements
