Role description

Commerce Decisions Pty Ltd provides its specialist hosted evaluation system – AWARD – to clients involved in complex procurement programs.  Our solutions and services span the lifecycle of the procurement process from development of a procurement strategy, through specification of the criteria and design of the evaluation measures, to the evaluation itself and the subsequent analysis and reporting. We have an enviable client base across a wide spectrum of industries internationally, including Transport, Defence, Infrastructure, IT, Health and Education.

Commerce Decisions Pty Ltd is seeking to recruit a Sales Lead to expand our Australian and New Zealand client base and to drive new business development activities in other regions and sectors. Reporting to the Managing Consultant for the APAC Region and working closely with the Global Sales Director and wider sales team, the successful candidate as the APAC Sales Lead will be responsible for finding and closing new business opportunities, and supporting and expanding our business with existing clients. 

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in the next stage of growth for Commerce Decisions Pty Ltd. We are looking for an energetic self-starter who is keen to make an immediate impact in a dynamic environment. Ideally you will have at least five years’ experience in business development or sales in a relevant sector, know how to crack into new markets by working the phones, knocking on doors etc, make existing clients feel loved, and build the profile of our business. Most importantly, you’ll play a key role as part of our team through adopting our culture of talking positively, being accountable, acting confidently, and supporting and encouraging other team members.

Commerce Decisions Pty Ltd is based in Canberra with a regional office in Melbourne.  Its current client base is focused in the ACT, Victoria and Queensland states, as well as Auckland and Wellington NZ. As this is expected to grow significantly in the near term to include the remainder of Australia – regular interstate and occasional international travel will be required as part of the role. 

 

Key Responsibilities for the role

The Sales Lead will:

  • Plan, develop and execute on campaigns to build the profile of Commerce Decisions, expand the scope and reach of services to new and existing clients
  • Manage and support business development activities to new prospects and existing client accounts. This involves the proactive generation of new leads as well as responding to in-bound enquiries
  • Broaden the reach of the business, through the promotion of Commerce Decisions' solutions via customer-focused presentations of technology and services
  • Work with the Commerce Decisions’ Global Sales Director and APAC Managing Consultant to ensure effective pre to post-sales activity
  • Responsible for the management/supervision of existing accounts and related marketing activities
  • Work effectively as part of the Commerce Decisions’ team, to maximise the effort focused on building the client base as well as supporting other related activities within the company.

 

Key Requirements for the role

The Sales Lead will be able to:

  • Develop and maintain an excellent working knowledge of the AWARD evaluation system, and work with the consulting team to develop and maintain an understanding of how best to deploy and use AWARD to meet the needs of new clients
  • Own the opportunity lifecycle from cold call to close, attend client sites to deliver presentations and demonstrations
  • Work with our Consulting, Support and wider Sales teams to ensure we are providing a coherent, proactive and professional account management service to clients
  • Lead the preparation of responses to Requests for Proposals and Invitations to Tender, through research and contact with the Sales and Consulting teams, preparation of drafts, reviews and delivery of the responses
  • Maintain our Sales Knowledge Base, through sharing industry knowledge and experience, provide feedback to product and marketing teams, and update the sales CRM system (Salesforce) to prepare timely sales pipeline reports and forecasts
  • Promote Commerce Decisions, through attending conferences and exhibitions, delivering presentations, preparing media articles and other activities where necessary.

 

Key Abilities for the role

The Sales Lead will possess:

  • At least five years’ experience working in a Business Development or Sales role, and able to demonstrate success in new business development
  • The ability to be self-motivated and flexible in their approach, show initiative, able to learn, and ready to share ideas and knowledge with the rest of the Commerce Decisions team
  • Strong presentation and verbal and written communication skills, have a professional, presentable appearance, and able to engage with senior members of target market
  • Ability to work without supervision, work calmly under pressure and have excellent time and diary management skills
  • Good IT skills including MS Office applications

 

Desirable:

  • Understanding of Government/Defence/Complex Procurement processes
  • Experience selling software and/or professional services
  • Knowledge of procurement software applications and marketplace.
