As a globally established organization, this group has the ability to manufacture a vast variety of rubber products for the engineering and infrastructure environments. They are focused on providing innovative solutions for their clients, with the ability to design and retool manufacturing as required.   

About the role

As the Sales Engineer, you will cover a nationally established client base which will include New Zealand. You will work closely with manufacturing and interact with overseas supplier groups to maintain project continuity and delivery timelines. Your focus will be to further develop the infrastructure, transport infrastructure, energy and specialised construction markets.   

Duties   

  • Maintain an active presence with consultancies and Government bodies in relation to infrastructure and civil construction projects.
  • Provide technical solutions and support on a variety of rubber and polymer products for the civil, engineering, transport and construction sectors.
  • Meet clients on site to evaluate product requirements and application needs
  • Maintain a full understanding of current and upcoming infrastructure projects
  • Work closely with internal customer support, alternative overseas business groups and suppliers to maintain all crucial timelines
  • Prepare tenders and bids and negotiate to price  
  • Provide transparent communication to clients on project progress 
  • Have a sense of urgency and the ability to multi-task and manage several projects at any one time  

Skills and attributes

  • Have a five-plus year history of technical sales
  • You could have a background of promoting manufactured products, to the construction or civil engineering consultancy sectors
  • Have a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or civil engineering  
  • Potentially have an understanding of rubber sealing, engineered rubber damper, anti-vibration systems, acoustics, polymeric compounds or rubber bridge bearings   
  • Have a solutions-based sales drive, with the ability to identify new engineering sales opportunities with existing and potential new clients
  • Have the ability to develop and maintain strong commercial customer relationships
