A Channel Development Manager is responsible for:
- Maintaining and developing our existing channel relationships and promoting products and services.
- Applying consultative and strategic selling skills as well as adequate technical expertise to selling, developing and managing a client base for products and services predominantly through direct, face to face contact.
On-going duties include:
- developing a sales and channel development strategy
- prospecting
- pipeline reporting
- initiating contact with potential and prospective clients
- consulting regularly with existing clients whilst understanding their strategic business objectives
- assessing their strategies and solutions in relation to those objectives, developing proposals to meet those objectives
- selling your recommendations at the appropriate level to the clients' organisation
In this Channel Development Manager position you will be allocated a portfolio of approx. 30 named accounts. These accounts will be a mixture of core and 'at risk'. Your responsibility will be to increase spend in order to achieve budget.
Essential Duties and responsibilities include:
- Establish preferred supplier relationships with all major resellers in the territory for vendors
- Develop adequate product knowledge to assist resellers in offering all solutions distributed
- Have a comprehensive understanding of both the customer's business and that of its market competitors to ensure the provision of effective strategic solutions
- Develop and maintain strong links with vendors, competitors, and other industry entities to ensure you are up to date with trends, issues and developments
- Create positive operating partnerships with senior management, account managers and channel managers for all vendors
To be successful in this role you will have to ability to communicate effectively at all levels to articulate the solutions offered. You will have excellent time management a commercial business acumen and the ability to meet deadlines.
