As the Job Seeker Officer, you will:

  • Coordinate and work with Back to Work Employer Officers, employers, and local jobseekers to identify and meet employment opportunities in support of the Queensland Government's Back to Work initiative.
  • Liaise and work with the Navigator teams and relevant networks across Queensland to help jobseekers to connect with local employers to gain and maintain employment.
  • Work effectively with new Back to Work employees through training as required and the first twelve months of employment.
  • Promote partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and engage in and support positive outcomes.

 

Salary:  $103,154 - $110,613 (pro-rata per annum) PLUS generous leave entitlements; superannuation and allowances (if applicable).

Employment Status:  Temporary, Full Time to June 2019 unless otherwise determined.

** As part of your employment you will be required to complete a period of probation and criminal history checks will be undertaken.

Location: Roma ** Travel may be required across the TAFE Queensland - South West Region and undertake occasional after hours work.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Commerciality, Teamwork, Innovation and Accountability.
  • In partnership with the Employer Officer, effectively coordinate and administer the Back to Work Program within the designated region.
  • Build relationships and networks with community and employment bodies to identify eligible jobseekers and promote Back to Work Program opportunities.
  • Connect jobseekers with training opportunities, including Skilling Queenslanders for Work, Certificate III Guarantee, apprentice/trainee, and other relevant VET pathways.
  • Conduct initial assessment of jobseekers training needs and provide appropriate career advice and support/referral as required.
  • Liaise and network with other training organisations to ensure an individual is not disadvantaged if TAFE Queensland does not offer the training aligned to the employment opportunity.
  • Broker and establish linkages and referral relationships to provide support to employers, industry groups, trainers and employment services to improve outcomes for young people, long term unemployed, culturally and linguistically diverse jobseekers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander jobseekers.
  • Promote understanding and usage of the Back to Work Regional Employment Package in the region including undertaking research and development on matters relating to training opportunities and functions and contribute to the improvement in the program processes and practices.
  • Work with stakeholders to support the effective evaluation of the pilot, including ensuring reporting on quality, appropriateness and key deliverable success of the Back to Work Program and contribute to the recommendations of future improvements and individual opportunities.
  • Develop or support the development of resources which close information gaps and facilitate greater understanding of programs, training, and services available to employers and jobseekers.
  • Identify systemic gaps in and encourage the collaborative development of solutions to join up the service system and fill gaps, reduce duplication, and enhance existing effort.
  • Provide leadership on individual and team performance and future goals.
  • Manage communication and actively engage with industry, business and the community.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain thorough records of client training needs, training programs provided and associated financial and contractual reporting documentation to ensure that the Region's contractual obligations are met.
  • Coordinate student access to learning programs and appropriate assessment processes and records (on and off the job) ensuring all aspects of the training program are satisfactorily achieved for clients on time within budget.
  • In consultation with educational delivery staff, coordinate the development of individual learning plans and customised learning materials where necessary to facilities the desired training competencies required by employers and employees.

  3. Demonstrated ability to understand desired objectives, make solution recommendations and manage the successful delivery of the project aligned to outlined priorities.
  4. High level interpersonal communication skills including the ability to build and sustain partnerships with employers and other training providers.
  5. Encourages creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship with the initiative, attitude and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging and changing environment.
