Job Summary

At Axieo, we're looking for an experienced and results-driven Key Account Manager who is genuinely customer focused and prides themselves on their solution-selling ability to join our Sales team at Kew and help build, maintain and maximise our Life Sciences portfolio.

Core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Developing sales plans and co-ordinating marketing strategies
  • Establishing and maintaining lasting, win-win sales relationships with major accounts/customers
  • Proactively seeking out and landing new sales opportunities and accounts
  • Analysing sales performance to identify follow-up actions and improvements
  • Travelling interstate to cover the SA and WA markets as well as VIC

About the Role:

Based at our office in Kew, this role's primary purpose is B2B business development to not only maintain our Life Sciences portfolio but to also continue to grow it and produce profitable, value-add, win-win outcomes for everyone involved.

The success of this role comes down to the attitude and initiative of the individual to constantly provide solutions to our customers' needs.  Key to this will be your ability to ask the right questions, keep up to date on industry and market trends and our awesome range of products to help drive new ideas and opportunities that will benefit our existing and new customers.

Given the nature of the role, it will involve travel to cover the assigned regions which also include South Australia and Western Australia.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Working strategically to identify key-decision makers, understand their business challenges and recommend value-add solutions to these to maximise sales opportunities
  • Developing sales plans to achieve agreed volume gross margin and revenue targets
  • Providing an exceptional sales experience to accounts/customers that benefit both Axieo and the customer
  • Proactively build customer relationships through regular face-to-face interaction and build Axieo's presence amongst industry groups and customers
  • Pursuing prospects and promoting products that provide solutions to customer needs
  • Analysing sales performance and preparation of monthly reports including market position, future development, competitor activity and follow-up actions
  • Maintaining up to date pipe-line opportunities in CRM ensuring a focus on your top priorities
  • Maintaining up to date pipe-line opportunities to shape your developmental priorities
  • Maintaining all customer contract pricing within Microsoft AX
  • Providing up to date forecast requirements for all products and customers within your designated portfolio/territory
  • Keeping up to date with changes in the requirements of customer accounts and seeking out and participating in relevant industry training initiatives

Who are we looking for?

We're after a driven and hungry sales professional who has had previous success working within the ingredient ,food technology or pharmaceuticals industry. Someone that is truly motivated by innovation and enjoys the constant challenge of chasing down new deals and building incredibly strong customer relationships, quickly!

Other skills, knowledge and qualities include:

  • 5+ years sales or business development experience within a B2B role
  • Proven track-record of meeting (and exceeding) sales targets as well as developing new business relationships
  • Prior experience working with ingredients or food technology within the food, beverage or nutrition manufacturing industry
  • Tertiary qualifications in Food Technology is highly advantageous
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business is also ideal but not a must
  • Prior experience selling globally sourced ingredients to local manufacturers and providing solutions or solution selling
  • Exceptional at building relationships, listening to customer needs and maintaining customer confidence and trust – truly customer focused
  • Takes ownership for maintaining accurate and insightful information on customers and opportunities in CRM
  • Self-starter who is driven and highly motivated to initiate action and achieve outcomes
  • Proactive when it comes to driving ideas and sharing wins with other customers for their benefit
  • Strong problem solver who is quick to make informed decisions that are relevant and commercially viable
  • Strategic – can understand the bigger picture and join the dots to identify sales opportunities
  • Forward thinker – works not just in the now but also can predict future needs of customers and capitalise on these before they're realised
  • Dedicated focus on new business opportunities
  • Innate curiosity and drive to constantly be learning about new products, processes etc.
  • Believes in our Values and the importance of them to our success
  • Strong account management skills including budgeting, forecasting and CRM
  • Extremely organised and proficient with technology including MS AX and Excel
  • Role requires a valid driver's licence
