The Melbourne Football Club (MFC) is the founding club of the AFL. Based at Australia's most iconic sports stadium, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, it is part of the fabric of the city of Melbourne.
  
As an emerging team in the competition, MFC has a significant opportunity to engage new audiences to build a strong, and sustainable future. This newly created position will be a key driver of new commercial business opportunities for the Melbourne Football Club. The successful applicant will be responsible for identifying and prospecting new commercial customers to facilitate growth across the club’s commercial revenue streams; including experiences, corporate hospitality, sponsorship and advertising.

Position Summary/Objective
This newly created position will be a key driver of new commercial business opportunities for the Melbourne Football Club. The successful applicant will be responsible for identifying and prospecting new commercial customers to facilitate growth across the club’s commercial revenue streams; including experiences, corporate hospitality, sponsorship and advertising.
  
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Responsible for executing the business development strategy in relation to growing existing revenue streams through targeting new customers.
  • Identify and create a pipeline of potential new customers within the South East Melbourne Growth Corridor and Guangdong Province (China).
  • Develop strategic approaches and pitches including proposal literature framing the MFC value proposition.
  • Prospect and proactively engage new customer segments, while maintaining club standards through customer focus, presentation standards and timely responses.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholder groups and third parties who assist to reach new audiences, e.g. Chambers of Commerce and Government Departments.
  • Deliver sales across the range of MFC commercial products, including, but not limited to, experiences, corporate hospitality, and partnership opportunities.
  
Competencies and Key Attributes
  • Demonstrated ability in seeking out and winning new business, including business cases based on customer needs and selling on value.
  • Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of industry drivers & challenges.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to connect with multiple personality types.
  • Ability to work autonomously to tight deadlines and with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytical skills teamed with data driven decision making ability.
  • Highly developed relationship building skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  
  
Qualifications and Experience
  • A tertiary qualification in a business related discipline.
  • 5+ years in a business development / sales role, in a corporate environment.
  
Additional Requirements
  • Position offered will be subject to a Working with Children's Check.
  • Be available on match days and other club events which may be outside of normal business hours.
