About the role

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership to the Fund in developing and implementing business growth strategies in line with the Board approved business plan and in line with the Fund risk tolerances. This role will rely on the collaboration of internal and external stakeholders often across cross functional teams.

What you would be doing

The main things that you would be doing include:

  • Growing Funds Under Management (FUM)
  • Growing and retaining members in the Fund
  • Assisting the Fund to grow geographically within the building and construction industry
  • Expanding the market for BUSSQ products via financial planners
  • Provide assistance to other Fund departments as requested
  • Commit to adopting the  Funds culture as our enduring competitive edge

Who we’re looking for

Required qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or minimum of 10 years’ experience in business development.
  • RG146 (can be obtained on joining the Fund)
  • Proven track record of generating new business

Essential skills, competencies and experience:

  • Proven track record of developing and managing the implementation and execution of successful business strategies
  • Ability to co-ordinate tender opportunities and project manage responses
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent data skills
  • Effective leader to develop and coordinate a number of dynamic teams in regards to developing new business markets
  • Good presentation skills to a wide range of audiences from the building sites to board members
  • Affiliations, or ability to build affiliations, with Employer and Member Industry bodies
  • Strong negotiation skills and stakeholder management
  • Ability to quickly build a convincing technical understanding of superannuation and financial services
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work autonomously and manage to expectations and prioritise workload
  • A highly organised work discipline
  • A positive and professional attitude who works well in team situations
  • Ability to develop and work within agreed budgets
  • Fit in with the culture of BUSSQ and the Skylight business
