Motherwell Automation is a Perth based company with extensive experience in the supply and support of industrial automation, control and IT solutions to the resources, utilities and power generation industries. Additional to our traditional automation business, Motherwell is also a strategic partner for distribution, service, and support for a well-recognised leading global brand of VSD (Variable Speed Drives).

We are now actively seeking to appoint an individual that may be looking for an excellent opportunity and become a drives and motor control specialist to assist in the growth of our VSD business. The ideal candidate will have exceptional knowledge on drive applications, and solutions, and may also have experience in other motor control products, and motors.

Whilst there will be a focus on sales, in this diverse position, someone with experience in the technical servicing, programming, and troubleshooting of drives are also encouraged to apply as there will be an element of hands on requirements..

The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to the following

  • Identifying opportunities for growth in the servicing and sales of VSD and Motor Control Products
  • Complete servicing and troubleshooting on customer VSD's when required.
  • Maintaining and growing existing Variable Speed Drives customer relationships
  • Seeking out new customers and converting from our competitors
  • Technical support to the customer on troubleshooting, programming, and applications
  • Maintaining a customer database and recording activity through the use of a CRM
  • Identifying and managing an opportunity pipeline through the use of a CRM
  • Liaising with the distribution partner for support and technical requirements
  • Attending relevant networking and technical functions
  • Participating in distributor training sessions
  • Some regional travel on an "as required" basis

Key competencies

  • Variable Speed Drives and motor control experience
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Self-motivated with good organisational skills
  • Written and verbal competencies
  • Ability to build strong and effective business relationships
  • Results oriented focus
  • Trade certificate (desirable)
