Our client is a diversified private company, with combined local turnover in excess of $100M and in excess of $1B, globally. They are one of the market leaders within the Organic ingredients and Health Food sector and carry their own premium brands as well as represent in the marketplace, a substantial portfolio of other company products as their exclusive distributor. Channels to market include major retail, specialist retail, food service, route and wholesale.

As a result of strong growth, they are now seeking to engage 3 x Key Account Managers. These positions will report to the GM Sales & Marketing and will require applicants to have proven industry expertise to be able to “hit the ground running”. 

Our client is adamant applicants must be confident, positive-minded and possess a great degree of initiative & organisational skill. The right candidates must be capable & willing to independently engage with clients through various market channels as well as be a cohesive member of the broader sales team. Each Account Manager will be responsible for ensuring their current portfolio of business is exceptionally well-managed (circa $6-8M) and have the capacity to further develop the business and client base. Our client is after "Order Makers" not “Order Takers” and a lucrative commission structure is on offer to reward your efforts in achieving and exceeding monthly targets.

The CEO is highly entrepreneurial and is passionate about rewarding people based on their results i.e. Volume & Margin. Applicants must be resilient, amiable, tough negotiators, with the capacity to influence thinking and sell "value” propositions, rather than just working on price and cutting margins - anyone can do that!!

To be considered for these roles, applicants MUST satisfy the following key selection criteria:

  1. Have at least 3 years' experience as a Key Account Manager/Senior Account Manager/BDM/Field Sales Rep selling FMCG wholesale to Supermarket Chains, Independent Grocers, Convenient stores & Petrol Stations or to Pharmaceutical & Health Food Stores.
  2. Be highly self-motivated, a real 'Go-Getter' who is resilient and tenacious i.e. "Professionally-persistent"
  3. Be capable of negotiating with and influencing Senior Business Leaders and Stakeholders
  4. Be a 'People-Person' - confident, articulate, friendly and adaptable - able to get along with all walks of life - regardless of age, corporate status, gender or favourite football team. People do business with people they like which is half the battle. 
  5. Be able to work well under pressure and demonstrate a proven track-record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
  6. Have strong verbal & written communication skills
  7. Be computer literate - able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and have experience using CRM software such as Sales Force, NAV or Optimetrix (preferred).
  8. Have good finance skills, with the ability to effectively keep track of monthly progress in sales and be able to forecast profit margins with strategies of achieving goals/quotas; daily, monthly, annually.
  9. Have an inherent understanding of all market channels and 'opportunities' to exploit sales growth and market share
  10. Hold a full and current Drivers Licence, be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

On offer to attract strong candidates is a negotiable base salary, which will be in line with your level of fit against the key selection criteria, plus car allowance and super. Commission is paid monthly and is calculated as a percentage of your profit margin - uncapped. Your earning capacity will be governed by you and your results only, with no other inhibitors such as company results etc.
