Our client is partnered with blue chip national retailers. An exciting opportunity has now opened for a highly experienced Account Manager / Merchandiser for their Menswear and Womenswear division, working with accounts where they have enjoyed long standing relationships.
As the Merchandiser you will be highly motivated and working as a part of a team handling a high volume of orders, shipments, negotiations and costings for fully fashioned outerwear apparel. You will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for a small team.
Ideally you will have come from an apparel background in a senior sales account management product developer capacity although our client is also open to a similar background working with Womenswear and/or Footwear. We are also open to someone with a strong production develop background, who wishes to further develop their skills in sales account management.
Responsibilities/Job Functions:
- Negotiate costings and liaise with buyers to meet requests on cost and delivery
- Preparing packages for offshore suppliers
- Maintaining current relationships
- Developing relationships with buyers in an effort to grow the business
- Searches out and develops new business opportunities with both current and newly sourced retailers.
- Maintaining order tracking systems for offshore orders.
- Managing critical path
- Monitoring orders from placement to completion to ensure on time delivery to required quality standards.
- Monitor, follow up and communicate any issues which may arise (delivery issues, payment issues, stock issues, etc.)
Position Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role or 3 years min in production development
- Strong organization skills
- Strong relationship building skills
- Great ‘follow through’ skills to job completion
- Eye for detail
- Sound knowledge in fabrications/ trims/ and garment construction
- Sound knowledge in production processes / potential issue
