Client Details

My client is one of Australia's leading suppliers of building materials, excelling in the field of sustainable and innovative design solutions. They have been experiencing a consistent state of growth for some time and now have a strong national presence within the Australian market. As a result of this continued growth, they are now seeking a Business Development Manager to capitalise on the growth within their core markets, which include Commercial, Government, and Healthcare markets.

Description

As the Specification Manager for South Australia, you will tasked with spearheading growth across their core markets. This role is a highly autonomous role basing yourself from a home office, yet the team you will be joining is very much a passionate and collaborative one with a strong national presence. The fundamental remit of your role will comprise of the following:

  • Identifying new business opportunities through the process of market segmentation.
  • Creation and management of a commercial portfolio of clientele, liaising with Architects, Designers, Contractors, Developers & End Users alike.
  • Leveraging key supply partner's architectural specifications to secure project supply and minimise specification leakage.
  • Cold calling across new project sites, identifying new product and market opportunities
  • Implementation of business development and key account management initiatives for your area of accountability.
  • Establishment of a monthly reporting process relating to results and conversion rates, key supplier activity, market intelligence and competitor pricing.
  • Attending relevant industry related functions to increase your network of Builders, Plumbers, Architects and Supply Partners.

Profile

You will ideally be an experienced and accomplished sales professional with a strong comprehension of dealing with builders, developers & contractors winning lucrative new business in the process. In addition, you will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the building materials market, preferably within SA.
  • Previous track record of success building relationships and securing business with architects, designers and contractors within the decorative products industry.
  • The ability to construct and adhere to an efficient sales call cycle and keep abreast of new market developments.
  • A 'hunter' type, sales mentality
  • A passion for working in hard working, collaborative teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
