Human Resource Officer/Coordinator

The Organisation
John Paul Village is a residential aged care facility and retirement village located at Heathcote, NSW. John Paul Village offers 166 Independent Living Units, 171 residential beds and home care services. Our aim is to provide a happy and secure environment and respond to individual needs by developing specialised and innovative support and care services which promote a sense of community, choice, dignity, independence and quality of life.
The Role
Reporting to the Director, People, Culture and Mission, the Human Resources Officer/Coordinator is responsible for working closely with the Director and other senior and line managers and the HR team in the delivery of HR tasks and projects. Some of the responsibilities you will be involved in include but are not limited to:
- Support the Director
- Support for recruitment and on-boarding of new employees and volunteers
- Preparation of contracts of employment and employment documentation
- Maintenance of employee details and changes in the HR system
- Update changes to position descriptions as required
- Employment separation correspondence and documentation
- Filing and archiving of employee records
- Workers compensation administration
- Updating HR procedures manuals as required
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation including but not limited to the Fair Work Act, work health & safety, workers compensation, long service leave, anti-discrimination and industrial instruments (modern awards and enterprise agreements)
- Provide support and assistance with HR projects as required
Key Requirements
Ideally you will possess the following knowledge, experience and qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience in a similar role. It would be desirable if this experience is within an aged care or not-for-profit environment
- Ability to quickly to learn new systems and reach a high level of proficiency
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Proven ability to prioritise work load and a highly organised approach to completing tasks within strict time fames
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of professionalism
- Ability to take direction and adept at working in a team environment
- Willingness to respect and uphold the ethos and teaching of the Catholic Church and the philosophy of John Paul Village
