Northpoint is a family owned business with a customer focused approach that has become a leader in the automotive industry since its inception. With its Head Office in Adelaide, Northpoint operates at 15 sites across metropolitan and regional locations and has more than 260 employees.  Northpoint's dealership activities include new and used vehicle sales, vehicle servicing, spare parts and accessories, and corporate fleet management.

Northpoint is seeking the services of a Health & Safety Manager who will work across all areas of the business, providing advice, support, and recommendations with an action-driven, hands on approach. The Health & Safety Manager supports the business by ensuring that safety is front of mind in all activities every day.  This is a busy and varied role and requires a consultative and pro-active approach.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain and drive a safe working environment and culture
  • Ensure adherence to all Northpoint Health and Safety requirements
  • Conduct safety audits across all Northpoint sites
  • Work with departmental managers to ensure hazard hunts are completed regularly and that items identified are actioned in a timely manner
  • Update and maintain company safety information, including policies and procedures and ensure they are easily accessible and that employees are familiar with the information
  • Safety Initiative planning
  • Collect and retain statistics or reportable information generated by the Health & Safety systems
  • Provide periodic safety reporting to the Senior Management Team
  • Monitor aspects of the company's safety and quality systems and produce reports
  • Maintain the company incident database as required
  • Maintenance of injury registers
  • Policy, SWP and JSEA  creation, management and up keep
  • Manage WHS Legislation matters and liaise with Safe Work SA
  • Employee Safety training
  • Undertake Safety Engagement initiatives
  • Compliance issues (both legislative and Company policies and procedures)
  • Adhere to Northpoint's common purpose and values.

All duties are to be carried out in accordance with all company policies and procedures and any additional specific requirements as per your contract of employment. This is a Monday to Friday role and will involve regular regional travel and from time to time ad hoc out of hours work is required.

As the successful applicant, you must possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Hands on professional health & safety acumen with the ability to build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative yet challenging environment
  • Have a flexible approach to problem solving
  • Outstanding communication and analytical skills combined with  advanced computer skills
  • A focus on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience (minimum of 3 years) as a Health & Safety Officer or Health & Safety Generalist
  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS would be advantageous including a current TAE certificate
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Current and valid driver's license essential.
