Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced permanent full time Human Resources Manager to join the People, Culture and Safety Group, based in Gladstone.

This position is responsible for the implementation of the people strategy and employee life-cycle processes through leading an effective team of business partners.

About you

1. Bachelor’s degree qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline and/or extensive demonstrated experience within a complex environment.

2. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing employee engagement strategies that have improved employee engagement and team performance.

3. Acquire and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the requirements and functions of senior executive employees and Council under the Local Government Act 2009 and Local Government Regulations 2012.

4. Remain abreast of contemporary practices and statutory requirements of the Industrial Relations Act 1999, Industrial Relations Regulations 2011, Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, Crime and Corruption Act 2001, Fair Work Act 2009 and any other state and federal legislation delegated to Council for enforcement and ensure precise application and continued organisational compliance.

5. Demonstrated ability to manage organisational change programs and provide change consultancy to key stakeholders.

6. Comprehensive experience leading high-level workplace investigations involving internal and external parties.

7. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with emphasis in the areas of consultation, advocacy, negotiation, influencing conflict resolution and resilience.

8. Effective analytical skills with the ability to initiate, formulate, implement, monitor and evaluate strategies, policies, techniques and methodologies.

9. Extensive experience in human resource generalist roles, advising at management level, driving change and industrial relations.

10. Strategic planning and decision-making skills.

11. Demonstrated ability to influence and develop leaders in addressing capability gaps and promote and develop a learning culture.

12. Demonstrated ability to provide innovative and specialist advice to leaders on complex issues.

13. Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.

14. Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and corporate business systems.

15. Availability to work outside of normal hours and travel as required.
