Job Description

 

Hogarth Australia are looking for a pragmatic HR generalist confident operating in a stand-alone role. You will continue to set the standard for the people and culture function over a 10-12 month maternity leave cover. Part time hours and salary to commenstrucate with experience. 

You will have the ability to prioritise competing demands, be delivery focused, have a passion for efficiency and desire to introduce initiatives and evolve processes. You will thrive on change and problem solving, and enjoy working for a small yet growing business while having the support of the WPP AUNZ HR & Talent team and Hogarth Global HR team when needed.

Reporting to the CEO, the HR Manager is responsible for all end-to-end employee life cycle activities. You will support a diverse client group, providing informed, best practice advice, to effectively build strong relationships, whilst developing and driving innovative initiatives and solutions through the areas of attraction, development, and engagement.

In order for our business to work, you will be required to spend time of certain areas of the business. In addition to managing all HR administration and cyclical events for your key responsibilities are as follows:

Generalist HR

  • dminister HR documentation, onboard new employees and manage employee transitions;
  • Manage all employee changes and track all employee details ensuring HR folder and database are up to date;
  • Become a trusted partner across all things HR, providing HR advice to employees, including benefits, policies and procedures;
  • Liaise with WPP AUNZ Payroll on all employee changes, in line with payroll timelines/process;
  • Liaise with WPP AUNZ HR and Talent team and adhere to relevant policies and procedures, and meet compliance/reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with Hogarth global HR team to adhere and align to policies and procedures where relevant and meet compliance/reporting requirements;
  • Ensure accurate financial management of the HR function – working to agreed budgets and plans;
  • Creating/update tools, templates and resources to ensure efficient people process;
  • Make recommendations to management team regarding action to be taken to address potential issues/resolve;
  • Proactively propose/implement people and culture initiatives, with the support of the Office Coordinator;
  •  Administer workplace health and safety activities, with the support of the Office Coordinator;
  • Handle ad-hoc HR/Talent administration, reporting and compliance requirements as and when required.

Engagement

  • Ensure effective and timely internal communication on people and culture related updates on our employees;
  • Embed Hogarth’s values and benefits to ensure employees live and breathe the company values and are aware of the benefits offering;
  • Promote open, collaborative, supportive and dynamic relationships across Hogarth.

Development

  • Effectively manage the probation review and performance review process;
  • Manage annual training calendar, booking training and planning for any skills gaps;
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure that managers are held accountable for managing the performance of their team, and that talent development is seen as a business imperative;
  • Handle any performance related issues, supporting Managers and employees through this process in line with best practice;
  • Consistently demonstrating situation sensitivity and confidentiality to ensure that the People and Culture function is seen as a trusted and valued team within the organization;

Attraction

  • Assist managers to develop job descriptions and manage job posting through WPP AUNZ recruiting tool;
  • Execute Hogarth Australia’s talent strategy to ensure we are positioned competitively in the recruiting space. This should represent a consistent message in both our internal and external communications;
  • Work with the leadership team to understand current and future talent needs.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Candidates will have strong hands-on HR operational and advisory experience; with a proven track record of
delivering an excellent integrated and client/stakeholder-focused generalist HR service, ideally in a matrix
organisation. Professional HR qualifications or continuing professional development to demonstrate competence.

In addition, the candidates should demonstrate the following:

  • Exposure to / experience in a fast moving, creative and dynamic environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong people and team skills with the ability to manage self and influence others in a constructive manner;
  • Excellent time management skills in order to effectively prioritise simultaneous demands from a variety of different sources and adapt and respond appropriately;
  • Concern for quality and pride in all work produced; consistently careful and methodical with a strong eye for detail to ensure accuracy and consistent delivery whilst retaining an awareness of the bigger picture;
  • Ability to work on own initiative; pre-emptive and proactive; constantly thinking ahead; demonstrating a hands on and highly organised approach to all tasks;
  • Strong creative problem solving and lateral thinking skills; ability to join up the dots in ways that others might not and to spot the critical insight in a world of ‘information’;
  • Ability and desire to embrace and manage change; comfortable with ambiguity - flexible and adaptable with a willingness to learn and ‘muck in’ where ever needed;
  • Collaborative and astute - able to build trust and respect within our network; great instincts about how and when to pursue a particular agenda and how to build alliances and momentum.
