The Farquhar Group is a South Australian family owned Company that design and manufacture kitchens for many leading builder and retail clients across SA. The Farquhar name has been synonymous with quality for 40 years in South Australia. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well respected and established family business. 

We employ 180 employees in South Australia who are based across five Farquhar sites around Adelaide. We have recently expanded our manufacturing operations to Queensland and employee 25 staff in Lytton.

About the role

We are looking for an HR professional who thrives in a busy work environment to join our team. You will be based at KT3 in Lonsdale, and will be required to travel to the other Farquhar sites in SA and QLD.  We are recruiting for this role due to the current HR Manager leaving for a period of maternity leave and returning to Farquhar Group in a different role. 

This is a true generalist position in which you will be responsible for resourcing, industrial relations, training and development and general HR management activities, while ensuring all initiatives and activities support Farquhar's strategic goals. You will also manage our Payroll function, with the HR/Payroll Officer reporting to you directly. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the implementation of an agreed business and human resources (HR) plan and provision of functional advice on HR and people capability issues.
  • Providing effective HR advice to support business operations and ensure that relevant people processes are owned and implemented effectively by each business area.
  • Creation and implementation of HR Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Translating agreed business resource plans into recruitment plans, ensuring that resourcing needs, trends and issues are identified and addressed with the support of supervisors and team leaders.
  • Providing support and advice to management on employee relations (ER) and industrial relations (IR) issues to ensure harmonious and productive workplace relations are maintained and compliance with the related legislation.
  • Provide advice and support through the disciplinary and termination process ensuring procedures are fair and legislation is adhered to.
  • Facilitate the maintenance of the Employee Performance Review (EPR) process across the group
  • Utilise available resources to identify, develop and/or coordinate training and development requirements as identified by the supervisors and/or team leaders
  • Manage the provision of comprehensive, effective and efficient administration services across all HR processes, included but not limited to, payroll, recruitment, new employees, leavers, data collection and management, status changes and performance management requirements.

 

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated HR skills and knowledge in multiple HR disciplines
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management or equivalent

  • Sound knowledge of HR Legislation in Australia

  • Experience in ER and IR is desirable

  • Payroll experience highly regarded 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • The ability to establish, develop and maintain relationships

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • High level administrative skills and computer literacy

  • Ability to develop, motivate and manage staff

  • Possess excellent leadership qualities

  • High degree of discretion and confidentiality

  • Ability to prioritise and adhere to deadlines

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

  • High level analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills.
