In order to achieve this, we are looking for a highly experienced HSE Lead to guide and support one of our major project teams.

As a HSE Lead in Victoria, you’ll work as part of a team and will be the main point of contact for all health and safety for one of our major projects. By bringing innovation to your approach and being an active influencer of positive HSE outcomes, you will ensure all stakeholders have safety as their number one priority. You’ll be no stranger to getting out on site and playing an active role in promoting safe work practices.

The impact you’ll have

• Work with the Program Director and the HSE Manager – Major Projects to continually improve the HSE culture within the project team, contractors and all interfacing parties to ensure the highest level of HSE outcomes
• Naturally passionate and creative, you’ll come up with new and inventive ways to get people to think about HSE in their work place
• You’ll assist in the development of the HSE capability of the project team to deliver effective and sustainable HSE outcomes
• You’ll be actively involved with incident reviews, providing advice to contractors and ensuring a thorough robust process has been carried out and appropriate learnings have been developed

The talents you’ll bring

• Significant (ie more than 10 years’ experience) as HSE professional on major infrastructure projects.
• Desirable to have experience on a large tunnelling project, or underground mining environment.
• Understand, interpret and apply HSE Management Systems and legislative requirements in the project environment
• Strong change management skills and strong understanding of culture improvement programs and techniques
• Effective leadership skills and ability to operate and influence at a senior management level
• Strong skills in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of integrated Health, Safety, Environment management systems
• The ability to build and sustain collaboration, to resolve conflict and effectively handle negotiation on a major D&C contract
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate sensitively and considerately with stakeholders

This role will report to the Program Director, with a functional reporting line to the HSE Manager – Major Projects.  The role will manage other project safety and environmental resources as required, with the quantity dictated by the ongoing scope of work, noting the 24 hour, 7 day a week operations.
