We are seeking a stand-alone proactive human resources generalist for a 6-month maternity leave cover contract to manage all of the human resources aspects of our school and work closely with the college’s executive team. The ideal candidate will be quick to build rapport and have energy and enthusiasm to hit the ground running in a busy school environment. The role is responsible for the ongoing development and administration of all policies and procedures relating to human resources as well as recruitment and selection, training and development and evaluation and management of teaching and support staff.

The role has the flexibility to either be part time or full time for the right applicant as you support the education of young Australian women.

Key responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with relevant school leaders, coordinate the recruitment, selection and on boarding of all future employees.
  • Coordinate staff induction and professional development activities.
  • Support senior managers with appropriate performance management advice across the college.
  • Provide human resources advice and practical support for all staff as required, particularly regarding performance counselling, grievance, role changes and restructures.
  • Coordinate, review and implement any new human resources policies and procedures as required.
  • Manage the employee lifecycle administration including managing the maternity leave process, long service leave, exit interviews etc.
  • Proactively help staff resolve issues in a way that advocates our culture and values.
  • Human Resources project work as required.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in a generalist human resources role
  • Strong recruitment, training and development, and performance management experience
  • Sound understanding of employment law, WHS and other compliance principles
  • Organised with great attention to detail and able to work under pressure and in a stand-alone environment
  • A strong interest in people, their professional development and personal wellbeing
  • Experience in coaching and leading others.
