ABOUT AMSA

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is Australia’s national agency responsible for maritime safety, protection of the marine environment, and maritime aviation search and rescue. We are a statutory authority established under the Australian Maritime Safety Authority Act 1990 (AMSA Act).

At AMSA we ensure safe vessel operations, combat marine pollution and rescue people in distress. We work closely with other Australian and international government agencies and related industries, providing valuable advice and expertise to ensure we, and others deliver on our mission.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Officer Human Resources (HR) will play a key role delivering a broad range of generalist HR tasks and projects of both operational and strategic value to AMSA.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager Human Resources, and working within a supportive, dedicated and customer focused team, the role will touch on all areas of HR and Work Health and Safety (WHS) to implement initiatives that have real business impact. The Senior Officer HR will have a particular focus on the development of HR policies, delivery of projects and initiatives under AMSA’s Strategic Workforce Plan, and will actively support AMSA’s work health and safety (WHS), diversity, rewards and recognition, reporting and recruitment functions.

ABOUT THE PERSON

We are looking for a motivated and self-starting individual who is committed to making a real difference and is not afraid of challenge. You will be an experienced HR generalist who has a solid track record resolving and responding to a broad range of complex HR issues. You will hold qualifications in HR, education, psychology, business or a related discipline and will have experience working at a senior level in HR, coupled with experience in WHS.

You will be focused on the “bigger picture”, with a strong awareness of self and the influence you have in generating important HR outcomes. You will be passionate about delivering results for your customers, and will possess excellent communication and relationship management skills. You will enjoy the variety and challenge of working in a generalist role, and will be able to operate flexibly in a fast paced environment.
