The Role

There are 2 main purposes of the Safety and Quality Officer position:

1. To visibly promote safety in the workplace. The objective is to work towards zero accidents and to minimise serious safety events and encouraging near miss reporting from employees, contractors and all stakeholders. To assist and support Air Liquide Healthcare, to ensure the health and safety is top of mind in every activity we enter into.
2. To ensure Air Liquide Healthcare maintains its ISO9001 quality management certification, and ensures a high standard in the products and services it offers it's patients and customers

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consulting with regional teams on health and safety matters
• Working collaboratively with operational teams to ensure they meet safety and quality objectives and targets through planning and discussions
• Providing safety and quality inductions to new employees and agents to ensure a good on-boarding into our Safety culture and quality expectations
• Conducting Safety Inspections, audits, Behavioural Safety visits and Safety visits as required
• Assisting Facility Managers with Job Hazard Analysis
• Coordinating the annual employee vaccination program for the region
• Coordinating safety training i.e., presenting at staff and agent conferences, and organising external training for employees
• Chairing the local safety committee meetings
• Creating the annual safety meeting schedule and audit plan for the region
• Implementing national and local environmental initiatives within the region
• Leading investigations of accidents and serious incidents and conducts root cause analysis
• Other duties and responsibilities

This role will be responsible for VIC, SA and WA and will require some travel interstate.

Your Profile 

Required criteria:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in health and safety and have graduated within the last 3 years
• No more that 3 years of full-time work experience since graduating 
• Class C Drivers License and a Motor Vehicle
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• High level of self motivation, strong time management, and organisation and prioritisation skills
• To be seen as an approachable person and encourage conversations about safety and quality matters
• Motivated to maintain and promote safety, and able to motivate others in regard to SHEQ initiatives
• Ability to read, analyse, interpret and report a variety of information
• Ability to communicate effectively with people with different experience and competencies
• Ability to effectively present information in meetings, conferences and in writing, and to respond to questions from managers or staff members
• Computer literacy and ability to use spreadsheets, documents, powerpoint, gmail and a variety of other systems
