The Role

Spotless is the lead contractor providing Estate Maintenance and Operation Services (EMOS) for the Department of Defence in Queensland and SNSW.  As lead contractor within the region we deliver a suite of services to support Defence capability. 

We are seeking a self-motivated, reliable Human Resources Manager to be part of the Human Resources team in the Defence line of business. This position is responsible for supporting and contributing to the growth and success of the Defence Contract by providing customer-focused Human Resources advice and support which meet business requirements, comply with legislative standards and are in accordance with corporate strategy and direction

This role will report to the Head of Human Resources, to deliver a range of services including but not limited to:

  • Overseeing and assisting in the end to end Recruitment and Selection activities for the Defence line of business,
  • Liaising with departmental managers to ensure a workforce plan is developed to ensure recruitment needs are met;
  • Providing advice and support to managers, supervisors and employees in relation to bullying, harassment, discrimination, grievance and conflict resolution, team building and morale, facilitating the Employee Assistance Program (EAP);
  • Assisting managers in managing workplace relations to build and maintain a positive; environment in which all team members are encouraged to liaise directly with management on all personal/work related matters;
  • Monitoring and managing site industrial relations issues, minimising the risk of industrial disputes;
  • Developing partnership relationships and a communications strategy with external key players (unions, employer bodies, employer advocates, etc.).

Skills and Experience

  • Suitability for Defence security clearance (Australian citizenship mandatory);
  • Tertiary degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations (or equivalent qualifications);
  • Certificate in Workplace Training and Assessment would be an advantage;
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Current Car licence;
  • Experience working within a Defence or Services environment would be an advantage;
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate end to end recruitment and selection activities;
  • Demonstrated grievance/conflict resolution skills and investigation skills;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment law, employee relations, industrial relations and enterprise bargaining agreements and the ability to utilise this knowledge to provide sound advice to managers, supervisors and employees;
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, WorkCover and injury management processes.
